Haul Truck Operator - Keyano

Hi

I'm interested in the Haut Truck Operator program at Keyano. Just wondering if anyone here can provide any details about the course, co-op term, and eventual employment with one of the mines. How about the Haul Truck program vs the Heavy Equipment Operator program? Whick would put me in better position job and pay wise?

Thanks in advance for any info you can give.

Hi

I have already applied to the program and gotten all of the official info from the school. I was just looking for any personal experiences or opinions that people on the ground could provide.

Thanks

Hi, I did the course at Keyano about a year ago. Few things I want to tell you. From the get go even before the course starts they know how many people are going to get hired. For example Suncor only looking for 8 people but despite that Keyano will take 14 people in the class, so 6 students wont get a job for sure. Watch out for Suncor before you get hired with them you would have to pass HOGAN test ....many people fail (I was one of them). If you dont get hired through Keyano chances are you will spend looking for a job 6 months to year. In my class we had 14 ppl and only 3 got hired by Suncor another 2 guys got lucky and got hired by Syncrude 2 months later....the rest had to return to their old jobs or keep waiting . All I can say is good luck. Oh and be ready to spend two weeks writing and modifying your resume.
