This prices are higher than major Canadian cities
So if you are planning to come, it's a good idea to already have a job here waiting for you, otherwise the rent will eat through your saving quick.

Hey I will be moving to Fort McMurray in the fall and was wondering what the prices are like for everyday items? Is it approximately the same or are things much more expensive?

It depends where you are located right now. But prices in main stores are similar to Edmonton or Calgary, but we don't have as many sales they get there.

I find the prices the same for everything except for paper products. Toilet paper is so expensive! The best place to get that I have found to be the Canadian Tire.
Restaurants are higher than in other places.
