Conservatives Unite: Wildrose and PC Vote To Merge Parties

In a landslide, Alberta Wildrose and the Progressive Conservatives are now under one banner.

Members of both parties voted 95 percent in favour of ratifying the agreement to join forces and form a new United Conservative Party.

After the results, Wildrose Leader Brian Jean revealed he would be putting his name forward to run in the next provincial election.

Wood Buffalo RCMP Investigate Vehicle On Pedestrian Collision

Wood Buffalo RCMP are investigating a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.

On Friday, at around 6 p.m., a pickup truck was driving through a clearly marked construction zone – near the intersection of Confederation Way and Millennium Drive.

The truck struck a 21-year-old woman, who was working at the site.

The driver, a male youth, was identified but police have not charged him, as the investigation is continuing.

RMWB Temporarily Closing Silin Forest Road Bike Park

Bikers across Fort McMurray are temporarily losing one of their biggest parks.

Starting today, the bike park on Silin Forest Road is closed as the municipality completes a full assessment determining the best way to rehabilitate the park.

Last year, the lower third of the area was damaged by the Horse River Wildfire.

Five Medals for Fort McMurray Youth Competing at North American Indigenous Games

The RMWB is being well-represented at the North American Indigenous Games.

Indigenous youth from across Canada and certain parts of USA are in Toronto taking part in the games. This includes 14-year-old Salima Thibault and 12-year-old Alexandria Karamujic, both from Fort McMurray – competing in many swimming events for Team Alberta.

The RMWB is putting its best foot forward, while Communities In Bloom judges are in town evaluating our community.

The municipality is competing in the CIB’s International Challenge category against Bruges Belgium, Coquitlam BC, and Holland Michigan.
