McMurray Métis Sign MOU To Combat Housing Crisis

Another local Indigenous group has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Wood Buffalo Housing.

The McMurray Mtis is the fourth to sign the agreement in an effort to approve housing conditions and find long-term sustainable solutions that will benefit the community.

The Fort McKay Mtis, Mtis Nation of Alberta Local 125 Fort Chipewyan, and Conklin Resource Development Advisory Committee have all signed MOU’s in last several months.

Auspice: OPEC Production Increase Helping Canadian Prices Rise

Oil prices could see a big spike in the very near future.

That’s according to Tim Pickering, Founder and CIO of Auspice Capital Advisors.

Fort McMurray School Districts Honour Class of 2018

Hundreds of Fort McMurray students are getting ready for life after high school.

The Fort McMurray Catholic School District says 190 graduates from Holy Trinity Catholic High School crossed the stage back on June 8.

Around 200 more to cross the stage for Father Mercredi High School on June 29.

Power Disruption Impacting Operations At Syncrude

A power outage is affecting operations at Syncrude’s site north of Fort McMurray.

Spokesperson Will Gibson tells Fort McMurray News the disruption is forcing them to increase their flaring.

“It’s burning off refinery gas and there may be odours associated with that.”

He notes the Alberta Energy Regulator and neighbouring communities, including Fort McKay, have already been notified.

There’s no current timeline on when the site will be 100 per cent operational.

The Catholic and Public-School Boards are coming together to get kids of all needs riding bicycles.
