Alberta High School Football Championships Being Held in Fort McMurray

The top high school football teams from across the province are coming to Fort McMurray to see who’ll be crowned champions.

The Wood Buffalo Football League will be hosting this year’s ‘Alberta Bowl’ – also known as the football provincials – for the first time at Shell Place.

Gaming Marathon Raises Funds For Stollery Children’s Hospital

A group of avid game enthusiasts are raising funds by doing what they love.

A 24-hour gaming marathon was held at Avenue Coffee Fort McMurray on Saturday to help the Stollery children's hospital in Edmonton.

The ‘Buffalo Mushrooms’ put on the event – stemming from ‘Extra Life’, a movement in the United States that hosts marathons for kids.

Mayor Scott Talks Optimism In State of Region Address

Man Arrested For Allegedly Firing Crossbow At Resident

No one was injured after a man allegedly broke into a downtown Fort McMurray home and shot at a resident with a crossbow.

Wood Buffalo RCMP say on October 21 around 6:30 p.m. they responded to a call about someone going through a homeowners yard near Huggard Street and Hugues Avenue.

An early investigation shows the suspect entered a nearby home, stole a crossbow and fired it at someone.

Police Seek Assistance Finding Missing Fort McMurray Man

Wood Buffalo RCMP are looking for a man who’s been reported missing.

The Mounties say they are asking for the public’s assistance in locating Taetm Moon.

The 20-year-old Fort McMurray native was last seen on Friday around 12:30 p.m.- walking near the intersection at Hospital Street and Fitzgerald Avenue.

Wood Buffalo – Cold Lake Unemployment Rate Lowest in Nearly Four Years

The local unemployment rate is the lowest it’s been in almost four years.

According to Statistics Canada’s latest labour force survey, released on Friday, the rate for Wood Buffalo-Cold Lake was 5.5 per cent for October – down from September’s 5.9 per cent.
