A Fort McMurray man is due in court after an impaired driving investigation led to the recovery of drugs and explosives at a local trailer park.
Last Thursday, Wood Buffalo RCMP launched a drug investigation after an impaired driver was nabbed on Gregoire Drive near Highway 63.
Shortly after 3 am, the driver was arrested and a search of his vehicle uncovered a stash of cocaine, marihuana, ecstasy and approximately $1,600 in cash.
At 1 pm that afternoon police executed a search warrant on a mobile home, located off Highway 63 near Gregoire Drive.
The search resulted in a seizure of two ounces of cocaine, a handgun, ammunition, body armor and more than $30,000 in cash.
Officers also found a brick of C4 explosives, which required response from provincial bomb disposal units who were called in from Edmonton to assist.
The investigation is ongoing, but officers say there is no imminent risk to the public.
29-year old Harley Perrow of Fort McMurray is facing charges in connection with the case, including impaired operation of a motor vehicle, possession of a prohibited weapon and trafficking charges.
The accused remains in custody and is due back in court on June 17th.
